My Morning Routine diary example

Monday, 7:20 a.m.

I woke up at seven today. I was still sleepy, so I opened the window. The air was cool. I made my bed and washed my face.

For breakfast, I had toast, an egg, and a cup of tea. I usually drink coffee, but there was no coffee at home. The tea was nice. I listened to the radio while I ate.

At eight o’clock, I put my notebook in my bag and left for class. I did not run for the bus today. That made me happy. I want to wake up at seven again tomorrow.

Why this entry works

01

Use the simple past for today’s finished actions

Woke up, opened, made, washed, had, listened, and left tell us what happened earlier today.

02

Add one honest feeling

A plain line such as “That made me happy” gives a simple diary a personal voice.

Now write yours

Use the same shape, not the same story.

  1. What time did you wake up?
  2. What did you eat or drink?
  3. What was one small good thing about your morning?
