Why I Turned Off My Notifications
휴대폰이 확인하라고 요청하는 것을 멈춘 후 나타난 불편한 고요함에 대한 성찰적인 B2 글입니다.
Why I Turned Off My Notifications diary example
Thursday
This morning I turned off every notification on my phone except calls from family. I did it after catching myself unlock the screen four times during breakfast. Nothing had happened. I was checking because the possibility of something happening had become hard to resist.
The first few hours felt strangely empty. While waiting for the lift, I reached for my phone and found no red numbers, no headlines, and no messages marked urgent by someone else’s software. I had to stand there for eleven whole floors with my own thoughts. Apparently, I have become bad at that.
By the afternoon, the silence felt less like absence and more like room. I finished a report without breaking the final paragraph into six pieces. I also replied to my friends when I chose to, which made the replies less hurried. No one complained about waiting.
I know this is only day one, and I am suspicious of dramatic digital “detox” stories. The phone is not the villain; I trained myself to respond to it. For the next week, I want to notice which alerts I genuinely miss. The rest can stay quiet.
